What your points are worth, and where the numbers come from

Updated September 28, 2026 · from RightCard's verified card and merchant data

RightCard values Chase Ultimate Rewards at 1.8¢ and Amex Membership Rewards at 1.8¢ a point. Each number is the middle of four published valuations, rounded down, and never above that middle. Below is every source's number, so you can check our work.

How we get our number

Four sites publish current, dated point values: The Points Guy, Frequent Miler, Upgraded Points, One Mile at a Time. They don't agree, because each values points its own way, from what trips cost in points compared with cash. So we take the middle of the four and round down to a tenth of a cent.

Take Chase. The four say The Points Guy 2.05¢, Frequent Miler 1.5¢, Upgraded Points 2¢, One Mile at a Time 1.7¢. The middle is 1.85¢. We round down to 1.8¢. That way one generous or one strict site never decides for you, and we never say a point is worth more than most of them do.

A few programs sit a little under the middle on purpose. We'd rather a card look slightly worse than better.

We check them every month

On the 2nd of each month a job reads all four sites again. It only accepts a number that is printed on the page. If any value we use ends up above its middle, it opens an issue and we lower it in the app, in our AI assistant and on this page. It never raises a value by itself.

Set your own value

If you get more or less from your points than these sources say, you can set your own value for any program in the app (Settings, then Optimize rewards for, then tap a program). RightCard then picks cards using your value, and labels every number built on it as yours.

Only take cash back? Use Cash back mode, where every point counts at what it's worth as cash. That's the default.

How RightCard handles this: Points & miles mode uses exactly these values, and each program shows the same four numbers. You can set your own for any program. The app is free and private. No bank login. Recommendations are computed on your phone.

FAQ

Why doesn't RightCard just use The Points Guy's numbers?

They're the most generous of the four, and one site's view shouldn't decide which card we tell you to use. The middle of four is harder to push around, and rounding down keeps us on the careful side.

Why is RightCard's Chase value lower than some sites say?

The four sources range from 1.5¢ to 2.05¢ for Chase Ultimate Rewards. We use the middle, rounded down: 1.8¢. If you regularly get more, set your own value in the app.

Can I use my own point values?

Yes. In the app, open Settings, then Optimize rewards for, then tap a program. You can match any source with one tap or drag to your own number, and go back to ours any time.

How often are these numbers checked?

Every month. The last read was Sep 24, 2026.

Is RightCard paid by these sites?

No. We read their public pages and link to them. Nobody pays us to use their numbers, and the order of cards in RightCard never depends on who pays.

Where these numbers come from: each source's number is read from its own public page and kept only if it is printed there. Our values are the same ones the RightCard app and our AI assistant use. Last read Sep 24, 2026.
